Atlas Engineering becomes Atlas Rail

Atlas Rail, Australian supplier of equipment to the rail industry, has
its roots in Atlas Engineering, which was a household name in its birthplace of
Sheffield, England.
It was founded by Frederick Allen in 1913 and established during an era when
British engineering was at its peak.
Atlas Engineering rapidly developed a reputation for quality and reliability
for its equipment and service. That reputation remains intact with regards to
its approach to modern-day rail technology.
The company’s ability to move with the times has been enhanced since its
purchase by Australian company, Marand Precision Engineering in 2001.
Now called Atlas Rail, it has benefited from the technology and skills
transfer that has occurred in the intervening years through interaction with the
different divisions that exist under the Marand umbrella – aerospace,
automation, rail and renewable energies.
