After fitting wheels onto an axle in a wheel mount press, measurements need to be made to confirm the wheelset is within specification before being re-introduced to the system.

The press installation can incorporate an axle checking stand, which measures the wheelset against datum on the axle in-line with a reference drawing. 

The axle checking stand can be part of a press installation or it can be a stand-alone device.
